**There is no need to print tickets; simply select the number needed so that we can effectively plan for our family fun! We use this site for reservations only. Admission fees that apply will be collected at the event. Please bring cash in the correct amount for museum admission.

Meet at Woodard Hall at LA Tech and join LAVCA families and school staff to enjoy a November Outing at LA Tech's Planetarium and Idea Place! At the IDEA Place, visitors are given the opportunity to study and investigate the wonders of the world around them through the interactive exploration of scientific phenomena. These experiences, along with more formal learning approaches, stimulate curiosity, motivate further exploration, and increase appreciation and understanding in the area of science and mathematics.

Comfortably seating 120 people, the climate controlled Planetarium has a dome of 40 feet in diameter. A Spitz A-4 instrument projects the Milky Way Galaxy, including the sun, moon, planets, and approximately 3,000 visible stars thus giving a correct and realistic simulation of the celestial sphere.

Who?

Students, siblings, and family members are welcomed to attend! Parents are expected to remain with students at all times.

How much will it cost?

  • $4
  • Under 2 years old free
  • The group might go to Johnny's for pizza after for the buffet so bring extra money. Mr. Cruse has connections and is working on it; he's also a LA Tech graduate so you'll be in GREAT hands!

What to bring:

Yourselves! We may go as a group to get pizza and we hope you'll join us if we do! All will also need signed releases for our school. They will be kmailed out prior to the event and both pages should be completed and brought to the event to save time when you arrive. Even if you've completed these before, please bring them again. It's the simplest way for us to keep it organized!

All LAVCA outings are optional for our families. By participating in LAVCA outings, students and families are agreeing to abide by LAVCA's guidelines in the Student-Parent Handbook:

Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy will sponsor optional outings for students and families on a regular basis that enhance the K12 curriculum/learning activities. While attendance is not mandatory, it is an opportunity to meet other school participants, have conversations, share practices that work and provide academic enrichment. While credit for student outings is not offered in lieu of the regular curriculum, time can be counted as supplemental activities hours within the Online School.
Parents are responsible for the cost of transportation and any entrance fees associated with optional outings.
LAVCA parents and students are expected to conduct themselves appropriately at all optional student outings. Parents/guardians are responsible for the supervision of their children at all times.
